Notifications

What Little Worker notifies you about on iPhone, on the Mac, and in a browser, and how to turn it off.

Updated

What you hear about

  • Needs You: a worker needs you to allow a step, answer a question, review a result, or help.
  • Done: a worker finished a task. This one is quiet, with no sound.

The words are the same on every device.

On iPhone

The app asks after you first give a worker a to-do. Tap Continue, then allow notifications when iOS asks. Not Now closes it, and giving works either way.

  • A request to allow has Allow and Don't Allow. They answer without opening the app, after you unlock your iPhone.
  • A question that takes your own words has Reply. Touch and hold the notification to type your answer.
  • A tap opens the chat.

To choose what you hear about, tap Settings in the sidebar, then Notifications, and use the Needs You and Done switches.

To turn off all notifications, open the iPhone Settings app, tap Notifications, then Little Worker, and turn them off. Little Worker then cannot tell you when a worker needs you.

On the Mac

The Mac app sends its own notifications. Change them in System Settings.

  • A request on your Mac says Needs You: Allow, with Allow and Don't Allow.
  • A worker's question can have Reply, so you can answer without opening the app.
  • A finished task says "Done:" with its title, and the result under it.
  • A request and a finished task do not notify you while the Little Worker window is in front.

To turn off the sound, open Settings, then General, and turn off Play sound for notifications.

In a browser

The web app asks after you first give a worker a to-do. Click Continue, then allow notifications when your browser asks.

  1. Open Settings, then Notifications.
  2. Turn on Notify me when a worker needs me for this browser.
  3. Under Notify me about, choose Needs You and Done. These two apply on your iPhone and in each browser where notifications are on.

In Chrome and Edge, a request to allow has Allow and Don't Allow. Safari and Firefox show the notification only, and a click opens Little Worker. A web notification has no Reply, so a click opens the chat.

If the page says "Notifications are turned off", allow notifications for this site in your browser's settings, then reload the page.

When your work is nearly used

When 80 percent of a limit is used, the Mac and each browser with notifications on get a notification titled "Cost". The iPhone gets none.
